MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN is set to make another history in entertainment broadcasting after it was chosen to cover the prestigious Cannes Film Festival from May 12 to 23.

ABS-CBN is the only broadcasting network in Southeast Asia to be given exclusive rights to air the event. Aside from the Philippines, other countries like Egypt, India, Senegal and Armenia will also cover the film festival.

“SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” correspondent Cesca Litton and television director Jilmer Dy will be sent to Cannes, France to cover the festival, SNN host Boy Abunda confirmed.

“Ang mas nakaka-proud ang ating SNN correspondent na si Cesca Litton at Jilmer Dy ay kasama dito," Abunda said.

According to Yvan Avril, head of Canal France International, ABS-CBN is the “best team” to cover the event.

"It will be very interesting to see how many people like these can share and work together," Avril said. "I [chose] the best team [to represent] the Philippines in the festival in Cannes this year, it’s ABS-CBN.”

France ambassador to the Philippines Thierry Borja de Mozota chimed in: "I'm very proud. It's a very good opportunity to have a Filipino team going to the Cannes Film Festival."
