Julia Montes recalled that she never dream of going into showbiz but she is glad that she gave it a chance. “Dumating po ‘yung opportunity, ginrab ko na rin po. Dumaan po ako sa lahat ng proseso… auditions,” she explained. Julia just finished doing the highly successful primetime teleserye Mara Clara and is currently shooting her debut movie, which also stars fellow Mara Clara star Kathryn Bernardo.

And since they are sharing equal billing again, Push.com.ph asked the actress if she is worried that her successful career might lag once she and Kathryn will work on their individual careers. “Minsan po naiisip ko rin po ‘yon kasi ako as kontrabida, kinokontrabidahan ko siya. What if po na hindi na kami magkasama? Sana po huwag mangyari ‘yon na mag-lie low kami. Sana suportahan pa rin kami ng mga tao na gaya po ng pagsuporta sa amin ngayon.”



Now one of the most successful young stars, Julia revealed that she almost refused the role of Clara. “Hindi po talaga ako dapat sa role dahil natatakot po kami na baka ma-typecast na kontrabida and then ‘yun po at least nabigay pa rin po sa akin ang role.”

While she earned the approval of fans and critics with her effective portrayal of Clara, Julia also hopes to play the protagonist one day, but also does not mind if she gets typecast in kontrabida roles. “Kung mabibigyan po ng chance na maging bida, why not po? Gusto ko rin naman pong mangyari ‘yon. Pero kung ma-typecast na kontrabida, okay lang po kung desisyon po ‘yun ng management, kung sa tingin po nila kaya ko na ituloy-tuloy.”

Julia, who is very vocal about her modest roots, revealed that she was able to purchase a car with her earnings and is now saving up to buy her family a house. Julia is also supporting the education of her two younger siblings.

Julia also answered a recent allegation that she supposedly refused to sign autographs for fans at an event. “Nakakaloka naman ‘yon. Hindi po ako ganon, ‘yun lang po ang masasabi ko. Lahat naman po ng gustong magpa-picture ginagawa po namin ang ways para magawa po ‘yon. May mga times lang po talaga nagmamadali po hinihila na po kami papunta sa sasakyan. Kung hindi naman po napagbibigyan lahat siguro po ganun po nangyari,” she responded.
